Foundation VCAL in Special Schools
June 20, 2019
Naomi James – Ashwood School
“Excellent, very comprehensive program, great outcomes for students.”
“Passionate, very knowledgeable.”
This workshop is divided into 2 parts. During the morning Naomi will outline how they design, deliver, assess and celebrate their Foundation VCAL at Ashwood school. This session is sure to inspire you and will give you plenty of ideas/projects to take back to your school. It will also answer your questions regarding the opportunities (and limitations) of delivering Foundation VCAL to students with an IQ ranging between 50 – 70.
The afternoon is set aside for a collaborative session where all participants can further share and develop their project ideas, network and help us identify any future PD needs and supportive network development within the VCAL special school sector.
Come along to learn, share and foster network connections within the VCAL in Special Schools sector!
* 6.5 hours of PL towards Australian Professional Standards for Teachers; All 7 Standards.
Ashwood School delivers VCAL at the Foundation level to students with a mild intellectual disability. Come and see how ‘Applied Learning’ is put into practice in their classrooms and in the Pathway Exploration programs. Ashwood Schools’ aim is to increase the students’ independence and readiness to apply their skills post-school, in further study or work situations.
