VCAL certification at midyear
Students who have completed the requirements for the award of a VCAL by Friday 21 June 2019 have the opportunity to receive a VCAL certificate and Statement of Results in mid-July.
Schools should follow the VASS 'Midyear Reporting' procedures to identify students who are eligible for midyear VCAL certification.
Students who complete a VCAL certificate at midyear will not be eligible to complete the VCE in the same calendar year. If there is a possibility that the student's program may make them eligible for either senior secondary certificate, the student should be consulted to determine which certificate they wish to be awarded in 2019.
Any enrolments (VCE units, VCAL units and VET units of competency) undertaken by a student who successfully completes their VCAL cannot contribute to the award of a subsequent VCE.
Friday 21 June 2019 – VASS ‘Midyear Reporting’ function available
Download Midyear VCAL Reporting to identify students who are eligible for midyear VCAL certification.
Refer to page 19 of the VCE and VCAL Administrative Handbook 2019 for the specific eligibility requirements and further information.

Homelessness, youth suicide, racism, bullying and sustainability are just some of the issues that young people across Australia addressed in last year’s Videos for Change challenge.
Videos for Change challenges high school students to create a one-minute video, to raise awareness and inspire action on social issues that they are passionate about.
This is a student-led, project-based, real-world learning initiative which develops students’ social advocacy skills and fosters the critical competencies needed to be active and engaged global citizens.
Students have the opportunity to have their voices amplified through the Videos for Change National Competition which will be open for submissions from 24 June – 13 September. Finalist videos will be shared through our social media networks and have the opportunity to be profiled on Network 10’s The Project. Winners will share $12,000 in prizes.
Videos for Change is created by High Resolves, an award-winning leader in the design and delivery of learning experiences in citizenship for young people.
