Established in 1976 and located in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne, Ashwood School is a coeducational specialist school with a fine reputation in educating students with a mild intellectual disability. Ashwood School aspires to be a centre of excellence and a school of first choice in the field of special education.
Ashwood School delivers VCAL at the Foundation level to students with a mild intellectual disability. Students undertake a multi-faceted program that develops the key competencies necessary for post-school life. These final years are a true transition and aim to assist students with disabilities and impairments to develop confidence and competence in the skills to function in post-school employment, further education and training, leisure and recreation and home and community living.
