Integrated VCAL Projects
Lorne P-12 College have been a standout school in the delivery of VCAL, particularly in the area of integrated learning. Over the past 10 years, teams of VCAL students have engaged in a variety of projects incorporating business, community relationships, construction and media production. VCAL Coordinator Cherie Osta, recipient of the 2017 VCAA VCAL teacher of the year award, is a VCAL legend. Under her passionate leadership Lorne P-12 College received a swag of VCAA VCAL Awards over the years, most recently the 2018 VCAA Chairs Award adding to two VCAL Achievements Awards for 2013 – the Senior Team Award and the Team Teaching Award as well as the VCAL partnership award in 2014.
The team at Lorne’s VCAL philosophy? No idea is too big or too small, ‘it’s about following the students’ passions, talents and interests and developing a curriculum that not only meets the VCAL competencies, but unites the students as a team to leave a legacy within their school and community’.

Enter the VCAL classroom! – Cherie Osta
A most valued part of the Safari is to be in and witness firsthand the processes and procedures in place to engage and track student process. It is plastered all over the walls and windows! This classroom is the epicentre of the program. It is the place where students return to from their learning adventures in and outside the local community. An inviting, inclusive space displaying innovative and practical ways to design, document and track student outcomes!
